I don't know how to feel about the amount of negative things associated with Bluesky, from zoos to pedos being allowed here. It's become a real problem.

just what happens w alt media unfortunately, when theres a new avenue flocks of ppl who got banned off the conventional site will drove and its just what every newcomer has to go through

I feel like Bluesky devs had quite some time to create proper moderation, especially since they also had that private testing phase and this would be a place of improvement. But yeah generally, those kinds of people go to alt platforms like Matrix instances or Mastodon. 1/2

Especially if decentralised. Maybe a cool idea would be to have some sort of centralised moderation across platforms, would help out a lot, but there may be some downsides to that that are quite big of course and needs to be thought through more thoroughly. 2/2

also worth noting that conventional media DID NOT solve the moderation problemcm either, even before elon took over you were able to get to beheading videos and loli abuse in like 2 clicks in the New Tab. algorithm shields normal users from a lot of this
