My guess is this mostly has to do with Apple being slow as fuck at updating anything that isn’t brand new development. seeing as they changed the Gulf of Mexico.

Google Maps has now capitulated to Donald Trump and changed the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America. Apple Maps still uses the correct name.
