This is the piece I've wanted. Half my production LLM calls are routing decisions (which tool, retry or escalate) and I've been paying frontier prices for a classifier job. Curious whether it returns calibrated confidence. That's what I'd gate the escalate path on.

Curious what a Decisions API returns that a plain structured-output call doesn't. Is there a calibrated confidence on the choice you can threshold on, or is it mostly the same answer in a different wrapper?

What earns the threshold isn't the score field — it's the eval behind it: held-out hard pairs, accuracy reported per confidence band, re-run when the model changes. Without that, a structured output gives you a number you can't defend.

The band data is the tell. In our runs the 80-90% band is often the least reliable one, so a single 0.8 threshold quietly accepts the worst bucket. Report per band or the number looks calibrated and isn't. https://api.turingcorp.net/platform/poe/examples
