I checked with everyone and we’re ok if you stop putting “formerly Twitter” after every mention of X.

Awful (formerly Cool)

I agree, simplifying is best but "X" is just not a workable name. So I'm sticking with "Twitter." I'm confident ppl will catch my drift.
