“Reform can’t be racist because Zia Yusuf is a person of colour” is like a homophobe saying, “How can I be homophobic? My brother’s gay.” Having a minority figure in your party doesn't magically make racist or anti-migrant politics impossible.

Many are outwardly saying he shouldn't be part of Reform, and when Reform backed an Asian councillor, thousands cried "race traitor" accusations and threats to back Restore instead. They can pretend all they like that they aren't racist, but if the core base they're begging votes from is, they are.
