I rely heavily on dictation and have used most of the dictation apps out there... Avette has been dope in my first hour of trying it. The realtime output is much nicer than what I've seen in Handy, SuperWhisper, VoiceInk or Hex. Fully local and free to try out. Not sponsored, just enamoured.

Just got my first real sale for @avette.eu ✨ super super happy about it. It's a dictation app for macOS, the productized version of what I've been using for a year. It's really very good, I encourage you to download and try it out, should be fresh air after whisper/parakeet/apple stuff x)

Could you elaborate on your use-case for diction? If it's too personal, I totally get it. I've just had kind of a weird (in a good way!) experience getting into it.

2 main use-cases: 1) Talking to AI agents. 2) Talking to colleagues in Slack. It takes stress off my hands. I suffer with tennis elbow so taking load away from my hands helps me manage the pain.

Thanks! The weirdness in my experience was mostly that I think kind of differently when using dictation. Tend to self-edit a lot more when typing. Whereas sometimes it seems to be quite useful to just "think out loud" if that makes sense.

For sure. My dictated speech is much more rambly and loose than my written speech. Fortunately colleagues and AI agents alike are very understanding.

How do you handle dictation in public/shared spaces? Have you used a stenomask? This has become an increasingly frequently problem for me but idk if I'm ready to commit to the mask yet.

I’ve never done it. I work from home. I don’t think I’d want to wear a steno mask 😅

If anything *you* spent money on this post 😅 (disclaimer we are friendly though—albeit it's the first time you DM me about something I release!)
