Been annoyed by web fonts for a while. They’re big and they were connecting my blog to Google. I stumbled on modernfontstacks.com earlier today and now I’ve ditched my web fonts in favour of these. ~140kb shaved off the first load of my site. First impressions matter.

Now, I do have one holdout that I’m annoyed by. In samwho.dev/turing-machi... I use media glyphs for the pause/play controls. Android does not ship with these glyphs in their system fonts, so I’m loading Noto icons for that. ~500kb for 4 icons 🫠 I’ll replace them with SVGs when I get time.
