The @thecccuk.bsky.social report today is landmark. Adaptation is something politicians see as a future problem. Its not. We'll cross 1.5 degrees *this parliament*, the current govt will deal with those consequences Great coverage by @fionaharvey.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/science/2026...

Extreme weather is a growing political problem in the UK. As we’ve seen in Valencia & LA, when increasingly severe & frequent climate impacts strike, populists are quick to exploit public anger over a lack of preparation, using it to advance their own agenda & weaken support for climate action.

The UK needs a mindset shift, wwe are and increasingly going to be a hot country. Kids exam results are already suffering because of extreme heat. Hospitals cancel elective surgeries when internal temps cross 26 degrees. All the things this government is trying to acheive get harder.

Building infrastructure? Costs more to be resillient Building houses? Space is already at a premium we will *have* to build on flood plains Improve public services? See above! What the CCC report tells you today is this is moving from a backwater DEFRA policy to part of all policy

The interesting thing about CCC's report is how acheiveable the policies are. Installing air con in hospitals/care homes is easy! Especially if we're putting solar on them. Flooding investment is tricky but ~£2bn a year is not impossible. Clarifying the future of FloodRe needs to be done by 2039!
