and that's why sexual permissiveness doesn't work for them. you can't say "man, dress up however you want, just mind your own business" because they get the sexual thrill from breaking the taboo

Lots of straight people with vanilla sexual preferences will cross dress from time to time for a gag. It's done much more in conservative, macho cultures where the humour lands. Most of us nowadays don't find cross dressing inherently hilarious, so we dont relate to it.
