the ascendancy of the corporate profit model in the US is incompatible with human life

Low paying Medicaid will do this to a hospital. The regional hospital in the TriCities, WA had to be sold to a private entity because taking in mostly Medicaid bankrupted them. As for maternity wards, it’s going to be much harder to find providers with so many leaving due to the abortion ban.

Psych is like this too. Psych units make hospitals no money and rich donors don't generally want their names on psych units, so general hospitals have very few psych beds. This is one of the big reasons "de- institutionalization" and closing down state psych hospital beds has been such a disaster
