I'm nonbinary. I applied for a Gender Recognition Certificate. My application was granted, but I've had to sue the UK to try to get it issued. I've spent about £100k out of pocket already. I'm expecting another £100k in costs for my appeal, which is being heard next week. rya.nc/k7

It's not just for me. There's at least 100,000 nonbinary people in the UK, and once I'm recognized it'll be easier for them to get the same.

My plan is to win, in which case I get back most of what I've paid. The crowdjustice donations would then go back to crowdjustice where I can allocate them to a "related" or "similar" cause.

That is assuming that all non-binary folk place equal worth or even want their identity recognised with a certificate. Getting their identity officiated in this way has never come up as an issue for people im my circles. But I acknowledge that’s anecdotal.

Do you understand how legal precedent works? This isn't just a fight for one person, it could open a legal avenue for non binary people across the country that never existed before.
