I’m on an iPhone 16 with iOS 26.6. I’m at the beginning of the game, after the intro. Audio stops right after opening the app. If I start it playing again from Control Center, it stops right away.

Doesn’t look like it. If the game is already running in the background, and I start playing a podcast, then switch back to the game, the audio stops, regardless of the silent switch.
