A fellow unit member describes how the alleged D.C. National Guard shooter felt abandoned by the CIA: “He’d say, ‘I am working nine years or 10 years with [the] U.S. government. [They] never answer my phone [call].’” Story: bit.ly/3KzZQzJ

News reports say that Lakanwal started working for CIA in 2011.He is 29 yrs old and would have been born in 1996 & been 15 yrs old in 2011. If US is going to work with a minor there would be a lifelong responsibility to him. Why has no one explored this if reports of work w/US in 2011 are true?

Without intending to imply that his actions are understandable -- I condemn them unequivocally -- I think most Americans get that this man's motivation was unique to him and that Afghans in general pose no threat. This was revenge, not terrorism, IMHO.

“The only certainty in U.S. foreign policy from the last helicopter out of Saigon in 1975 to the Kurds after the Gulf War in 1991 to the 2020 Doha Accords and the Afghan evacuation in 2021 is that American loyalty comes with an expiration date.”
