...creates a plan checklist for subagents, creates a backup branch before making any changes, does the split on PR at a time, validates with typecheck/lint/build/tests, and finally confirms the sum of the parts if equal to the original.

I took a stab at creating an MVP of that (without the AST approach) and it struggled. Before sinking time in it, have to wonder if there's already a solution to this.
