Loving the plural verification thing that's taking off on mu.social. 💖💥 We should never have verification depend on the rules of just one company. That's just not how civilised spaces work.

I am honestly so confused about this! I’m now verified on Eurosky (yay!), but this doesn’t show up on Bluesky (boo!). The verification process and rules (if there are any) for both seem extremely fuzzy, particularly if you don’t understand what’s going on at the protocol level…

At the very least, a more detailed FAQ is needed. But showing verification badges from other sources, where applicable, would also help. 🫤

Hehe. It all seems a bit arbitrary! I don’t like Bluesky’s (or original Twitter’s) approach of only verifying notable figures as that’s inherently subjective and elitist. Better to have a democratised system whereby *anyone* can in principle be verified provided they satisfy the criteria…

i.e. verification is a sign that someone is who they say they are, rather than any reflection on them being part of some influential group. I hope this is what @eurosky.social is aiming for, but it would be interesting to see the details!

Yeah, that's the general direction except not properly written up yet or accountable. We're slowly doing better but there's very few of us and many things to do! My mental model is Wikipedia for verification.
