What exactly do you verify? What can I deduce from the fact that an account was verified by you? I can't find anything about this on your Web site.

Yup! It's the Atmosphere, there's only ever one account! Have you tried apps besides Bluesky? You might be interested in some of the ATScience stuff like @semble.so or @sifa.id (does ORCIDs).

It's like email. You can use twelve different apps if you want to and you'll see a consistent state of your mailbox across all of them. Except it's better because it can do a lot more than just email.

I’m not sure it’s quite what you’re after, but @mackuba.eu has a detailed guide to Bluesky that covers how its federation features work. Essentially, mu.social is just another client app view of the same Bluesky data. So you can use whichever combo of front-end UI and back-end data store you prefer.

Your account your PDS (Personal Data Store). It's much like a Web site, but for structured data rather than pages. Apps read data from PDS (it's all public), and given your authentication they can modify data in your PDS. One account for any number of apps. Which can all read each other's data.
