getting watermelon a smaller “retirement” cage per suggestion of a vet and its bittersweet — ill be happy that he doesnt have to climb up so high to go to bed anymore but i was always told get your bird the biggest cage no matter what. anyone have any experience with smaller homes for older birds?

im nervous he wont immediately get used to it but id rather him be uncomfortable for a week than suffer another nasty fall. he doesnt fly much anymore so i read something wide and deep is good for birds getting up there in age. for reference hes older than 15 (thats how long we had him,hes a rescue)

i dont talk about watermelons health too much cuz its kind of a bummer, but hes still hangin in there despite his age. still a troublemaker, too!!!!
