youre probably looking at this fruit and thinking ‘wow, that must grow on a tropical island somewhere’, and you’d be WRONG AS HELL. its a pawpaw, the largest edible fruit native to north america. this is our first one and it tastes like banana, vanilla, and cantaloupe made a weird ass threesome baby

It’s the season for them. We picked up a couple at our nearest farmers market today. And, yes, they are tasty.

I had a grove behind my house that never produced. I don’t know if critters beat us to it or if it was so shady they never formed. Went to the Pawpaw Festival in W-S last year and had my first taste. Cross fingers and check your farmers market.
