The “writing is overrated” argument has always struck me as exactly as well-informed as modern homesteading. I get the appeal of the utopian fantasy you’re selling. It is completely out of touch with not just the lives people actually live, but with the lives they *want* to live.
But to then make the leap to say that now, in the US in 2026, writing in university is overrated is such an ahistorical disavowal of the politics of technology that one just has to think “you made that argument about valuing orality over writing because it seemed clever.”
