🧵 PressProgress was born out of the desire to have a progressive voice in the media landscape, and to counter the abundance of far-right narratives that try to hinder the future progressives are actively trying to build.

With your support, PressProgress grew from a scrappy little news outlet to an award-winning team of respected reporters, breaking stories every week on everything from social inequality, to right-wing politics, to labour, health and more.

We often went after the “big dogs”— the wealthy and powerful elites in this country who are actively making things harder for working and vulnerable people in this country.

But as a result, many of those right-wing figures are trying to put a stop to our work and eliminate progressive voices like ours from the media ecosystem with lengthy and costly lawsuits that tie up our resources and prevent us from continuing to do our jobs.

A lawsuit, one that's become the largest in Canadian media history, is threatening to silence us and set a chilling precedent for Canadian journalism. We know people want to see our voices erased from the media landscape. But there are so many stories that progressives need to tell.
