full disclosure: disc was bought 2nd hand, I don’t know it’s usage/storage history Is this the first signs of disc rot on ‘newer’ consoles? White swirls on the internal layers of this wii game (PAL smash bros Brawl, nintendo published!). This could be bad for collectors 😢 cc @timeextension.com

not escape from new york 😢 But as Simon stated, 'rot' has many form. Underlying problems differ, visually might look different from one another too, but result is the same; Manufacturing issues cause dead media.

It was more a flip remark to be honest. Anyway, don't worry about EFNW, my Aliens CAV discs are still fine.

are these PAL or NTSC? more than half my PAL ones are rotting, and most I find in the wild have it too. NTSC (specifically Japanese I see more often) seems _mostly_ saved from it so far

Escape specifically? NTSC. Early Embassy release, which explains a lot. The rest of mine are a mix of NTSC and PAL, but all of them seem to still be okay from a glance. The only other disc that has difficulty being read is Brewster's Millions. Only the good die young etc etc...
