A major issue for theatre is that we lose parents for about a decade when they can't leave their kids alone to see a play. I have proposed on-site daycare options, more all ages productions, or anything to keep those people engaged. Babysitters don't exist so much as expensive sitting services.

I have a new theory called the Babysitting Theory that posits that plans with friends did not go away because of phones or COVID but because babysitters are no longer a common thing

A colleague had suggested cheaper tickets to lure in parents, and I pointed out that you could give the tickets away but it would still cost close to $100 for a sitting service so they could see the show.

I was all set to take a half day and see a Wednesday afternoon performance of Paranormal Activity in SF, only to realize that I was so late in finding out about it that they had already done the last weekday afternoon show.
