The use of AI in open source projects is really creating a bimodal distribution of contributors. You have the motivated contributors, who submit contributions mostly of their own, are learning and progressing along on the project. They are the joy of project maintainers.

And you have the AI contributors, who let a LLM write code and comments for them. They are not learning a thing, they are not able to field questions and comments correctly, they will not progress, and in the end their experience will be miserable because everyone will end up ignoring them.
