if you have a working appview feel free to try custom-appview.deer-social.pages.dev no motion on github.com/bluesky-soci... yet so this is a cherrypick + a toggle with both overengineered and underengineered validation

(now urgently spinning up AppViewLite for the first time!)

my very first did:web is going to be a shim to bounce deer back to localhost lol

ugh getting there but feels like i'll probably be killed locally for non-https localhost. might just put appviewlite actually online instead of messing with local CA...

i could special case in a test did the way bluesky does in their unit tests

lemme see how far i get :) did doc is up (copied bsky's including their pubkey but i assume it's not used here...) local.appview.bsky.bad-example.com/.well-known/...

oops wrong port (appviewlite binds to two). (appviewlite serves with a self-signed cert!! this might work...)

oh lmao this doesn't work at all... i forgot that appview requests get proxied through the PDS, which can't reach my localhost welp time to launch it to the public internet

"i put an appviewlite on the web" "on the web or a tailscale funnel" "tailscale funnel" mac.cinnebar-tet.ts.net (did:web:local.appview.bsky.bad-example.com) (not working *yet* but i'm hoping it's because my mushroom (porcini) had cached the old localhost url)

did:web:funnel.appview.bsky.bad-example.com: getting 500s on every request if i self-hosted my pds i bet i could make this work 🥲

alright the work is cut out AppViewLite's own web view works really well, but i can't get very far using its XRPC endpoints. seems like deer was doing everything right though!
