Prompt 3.5 is out! A big update to our terminal emulator. We fixed bugs. We deeply lowered the price (everything is too expensive rn). And we added… …Apple Vision Pro?! Yes. Including an optional immersive environment for maximum hacking vibes. Did you ask for this? No. Was it fun? Yes. prompt.app

Wait? I’ve been want a Prompt update for years and now I’m not seeing one because it’s a completely different app?

This is truly disappointing. Knowing now that the app has been updated under a new package is reason to look at alternatives.

We didn't have a choice! The easiest way to switch business models in the App Store — in this case, from buy-once to subscription *AND* buy-once — was to do Prompt 3 as a totally separate app. Since Prompt 2 users got 8 years of free updates, it felt more than fair to us anyway.

It’s difficult to respond. I’ve been a big Panic fan since switching to macOS and using things like Audion. I still use both Prompt and Transmit on iOS. Both have become quite janky as iOS has evolved. I’m not opposed to re-upping occasionally. But this feels different than “big update for $”
