We are happy to introduce Locale, our brand new project 😃 Locale is a modern, open alternative to Crowdin, Lokalise, and Phrase, built natively on the AT Protocol 🌎 We are starting things slow this time, join the waitlist: locale.at

locale.atLocale · localization on the AT ProtocolLocale is a modern, open alternative to Crowdin, Lokalise, and Phrase, built natively on the AT Protocol. Your translations and your identity stay in your own repo: portable, open, no lock-in.

New project by Padding Labs coming soon 😉

We will handle collaboration on the appview side where project owners can review or automatically push translations, the data stays in the translstor's PDS

wouldn't tangled's approach of projects having their own atproto identity be better here. it doesn't seem reasonable that the answer to "what if contributors delete their account and takes the locale strings hostage" is "we'll let the appview handle it"

imho i don't really see how this solves the issue. a wiki should have its own identity and own the data, not any of the contributors

I agree that for collaborative work it's important to have a custodian to act as the data owner and then the application effectively facilitates creating/updating the records. You can just create records on each translators repo to attest their contributions, even have "unpublished" translations 🧵
