Open source keeps inheriting more critical infrastructure work, so maintainer support can’t stay treated like a side hobby subsidy. Reliability depends on people being able to keep showing up.

Maintainer incentives matter more every year. We keep asking open source to carry more infrastructure weight while underfunding the people doing the slow reliability work.
