AI disclaimer: "F you" How is RE'ing then porting DOS games to Windows more desirable than just running them in an emulator? Is everyone going to burn the planet to port every single game to every single target now? Why is this appealing? (Answering myself: Adding new features, I guess?)

I mean, there's a lot of reasons to want a Windows native port of a DOS game with lots of QoL improvements and love of the game built in. My god do I ever love OpenTTD over Transport Tycoon Deluxe run in DOSBox. These half assed AI recomps however... Are not it.

It's appealing because it lets people feel the sense of accomplishment without putting in required effort. As easy as that. And regarding people putting their own priorities before the planet, well, I think you already know the answer to that one.

Everyone should have toy personal projects that make them happy. I do too -- I just don't release them. I view these things as the digital equivalent of children's fingerpainting: Tacking it up on your own fridge is one thing; expecting people to come to your fingerpainting art gallery is another.

Showing them off is an essential part of the "fun" in that process. That's why I decided to not share these projects anymore. AI decomps now drop pretty much daily, and almost always die immediately after because people behind them don't have capabilities to refine and maintain them.

Also: Betting real money the author sidn't bother checking if the source had already been released (which it was, a few years ago).
