The Tulsa Race Massacre was not committed by an uncontrolled mob but was the result of “a coordinated, military-style attack” by white citizens, the Justice Department said in a report. It was the first time the U.S. government has given an official account of the 1921 massacre of Black residents.

Canceling fire insurance a month ago for those who are now losing everything, makes me think. Trump and Musk hate unions. Dem governors are Pro-Union. Their goal is for all states to be Republican run states. It's not about getting immigrants out of unions. It's about getting rid of unions.

Union members who vote, creates change. To set up a union to organize on this platform, would not be about money or benefits, only about votes. With millions of members, I believe we would gain a seat at the congressional table. Suggestions?

I've run out of sympathy President Biden bent over backwards for US Labor/Unions " The most pro Labor POTUS since FDR" - Teamsters Pres He increased Union Jobs by over 18% (New Jobs) Yet over 50% of all Union members voted for DJT despite pleas from their leaders.

Just as President Biden often said , Unions & Worker Representation is the only road back to a US middle class We can't undo the last 50 yrs , but Worker Rep across all job markets both BC & WC could give workers a chance. Sadly it's the last thing wealthy Oligarcs in the USA want.

Labor cost cuts into their profits. He will try to destroy every Dem Governor from their position. And use any excuse (fires) to politicize it. He wants every governor to be a Republican. A lot of Republicans are greedy old pricks, GOP, who only care about one thing, money. Conservative, my ass.

The facade of modern Conservatives is a cling to old fashioned values ect.. But in reality it's nothing but a bag of BS. I left the GOP in 07 & everyday I see them further morph into a party which literally hates the Democracy of a Free Republic. Most now idolize Orban or Putin ... SAD

Because Trump made them think that immigrants were the problem. Yes, they hold union jobs and from what I know about the commercial and residential construction industry, they work their asses off. It's not about getting them out of unions, it's about getting rid of unions. Trump/Musk HATE Unions.

The initial report blaming Black people was a product of systemic racism, reflecting deeply ingrained prejudice. This legacy of bias still affects society today, shaping perceptions, policies, and inequalities that continue to harm marginalized communities.

1921: Tulsa Massacre destroys Black Wall Street, killing hundreds. 1934: FHA redlining denies Black families mortgages, enforcing segregation. 1940s-70s: Urban renewal projects displace Black communities. 1950s-60s: Rent-to-own schemes exploit Black families with eviction risks.

1619: Slavery begins with Africans brought to Virginia. 1863: Emancipation Proclamation frees slaves in Confederate states. 1865: 13th Amendment ends slavery; Black Codes enforce labor control. 1896: Plessy v. Ferguson allows segregation under "separate but equal."

A lot of Americans look at things like the attempted genocide against Tutsis in Rwanda or progroms against Jews in Europe, or ethnic minorities in China as something that happens 'over there'. But we ignore our own sins to conform with the idea that we are better.

Fair and in fact in this latest lawsuit, plaintiffs’ counsel kept arguing that defendants (the city and other govt entities) were purposefully delaying proceedings hoping the survivors would die. One did actually, last year I think. One is now 110 and I believe the third is around 107.

Would teaching about this in school be called CRT? Might make some white kids ashamed of their ancestors? Well, tough shit. It happened, and it should never happen again. Education enables well-intentioned people to avoid repeating mistakes.

Unfortunately it hasn’t taught this country a lesson and Germany tried to tell us, the Jewish community tried to tell us , and here we are with a felon , dictator wanna be got the president elect . how many people will die under his watch , we were warned

I had 18 years of quality education in different schools and had never heard about the Tulsa Massacre until about 5 years ago. It speaks volumes about our history, with the effort to dilute Ed Standards it will only get worse...

Amazing we as a country dilute & minimize our historical violence towards minorities.. not only about an event such as this, but am reminded the way we learned about Native Americans, were never taught about the violence towards them either. Is violence ingrained in our psyche/culture..

Was 8 when Emmit Till was hung, I remember it in the context of the Civil Rights movement, there was so much violence towards blacks that was minimized/condoned. The Girls in the Birmingham Bombing is forever etched in my brain, the violence on Pettus Bridge & bombing of the bus in Anniston Ga.

I went to school in Bartlesville, 45 minutes north of Tulsa and never learned about the Tulsa massacre. My high school DID host a mandatory annual Slave Auction pep rally/fundraiser. In 1985.

Acknowledging the corrupt PD is responsible for the violence & attack is good 1st step. But if no one is being held accountable, it's another failed investigation. What about the insurance companies? who took ownership of those properties? how'd it benefit the water project?

1. Insurance cos never paid a penny out. The Community rebuilt, on its own w no help from the state or city. In fact the city tried to keep them from rebuilding by passing a statute prohibiting the use of non fireproof materials, making rebuilding super expensive.

2. BC Franklin, 1 of the Black attorneys representing survivors sued & got the ordinance reversed. This pic taken June 6, 1921. Franklin & his law partner, IH Spears, w fam friend helping out, set up a law office in a Red Cross tent. Their office was destroyed. images.app.goo.gl/GcSgzEfVjCPU...

It’s not about race, but we’ll ignore every white killing, release every person who murdered whites on good behavior if we imprison them at all. Totally not about race, until it happens to you and nobody cares. It’s like nazism all over again.

I agree. Its a cold world. But pls see missing white woman syndrome. Race does matters less today; the divider being money and class. Capitalism ruins everything (and pls. No trolls. I am not advocating for a diff system bc I dont know which men wouldnt ruin). Again, hope you find peace.

It re-infuriates me every time I hear about this and realize that I had never heard of it until I was 58 years old. A major coverup by White America. I’ve learned about many more atrocities since then directed at non-white Americans and they all infuriate me. Woke as fuck and PROUD of it.

Trump's GOP are white supremacists. They believe women only exist for male pleasure & reproduction. They fear non-standard gender identity & sexual orientation. They blame immigrants, POC, trans, gays & all minorities for GOP failures. Like the NAZIs they co-opted religion to push their agenda.

I had only recently discovered Greenwood in Denis Lehane's novel, The Given Day. A great novel. This was Greenwood in about 1917. I had no idea about the later massacre. Devastating. American history is very dark.

I never learned of this or any of the other massacres in school late 60s, only during the BLM uprisings. I was so annoyed that my school didn’t teach it. Then I realized that it was nationwide, it was a concerted and our history texts up thru then were due to the Daugtrs of the Confed. Basturds.

“The department’s report concludes that, had today’s more robust civil rights laws been in effect in 1921, federal prosecutors could have pursued hate crime charges against the massacre’s perpetrators, including both public officials and private citizens.”

“In addition, if modern interpretations of civil rights laws were in effect in 1921, police officers, public officials and any who acted in concert with such persons could have been prosecuted for willfully violating the civil rights of massacre victims.”

Now, do the rest of the massacres that took place in Black towns! Lake Lanier in Georgia, Lake Martin and Lake Eufala in Alabama and so many more! This is who the U.S. is! Unfortunately, this will never be exposed in an open and honest way! It’s all about shaping the narrative for legacy media!

What the heck it wrong with white people. Why do they act as they are higher then others, and conmen & women. OH boy I remember they were always drunk, that’s for sure. Hearing them talk was like watching a gangster movie. So much bullshit. Lies and cons just to steal someone $$$

I still can't believe I was 70 years old before I learned about this. I asked my late mother - she never heard about it either. Whitewash. Just think if this community has been able to retain and pass down the wealth they had accumulated... I never considered reparations until I heard about this.

It’s not a standard for public school; largely because it’s nasty, nasty stuff and hard to streamline for a public audience to digest. If you can get a grant or afford college, it pretty much gets dumped on you there.

The inevitable outcome of Manifest Destiny. Its roots were planted by the British Empire. But its branches grow, twisted & evil, to this very day. American history is built on the bones of those consigned to be building blocks for skyscrapers & power. World history? Variations on that awful theme.

but it still won’t be taught in schools. i never learned about it growing up in the 80s. Only learned about it about 10 years ago randomly watching some tv show.

I had an old Black woman as a long-term substitute teacher for Oklahoma History, and am proud to say it was some of the best education on the subject I’ve ever to come across. 35 years ago, she was reading diary entries and first-hand accounts to us that are just now coming to light publicly. ❤️

I heard about it the first time on The Watchmen. I thought it was fiction, but it was highly accurate, down to planes flying over and hand-dropping fire bombs. I went to school in the 70s and 80s.

Sad to say the massacre was not part of any formal US history lesson for many decades taught in the US AFAIK. It was one of many of this country’s despicable events that was just not formally told. And it was barely just over a generation ago.

"It is important to note, a number of prominent blacks at the time of the riot including James West, Dr. R.T. Bridgewater, & Walter White of the NAACP, did not speak of any aggressive actions by airplanes during the conflict." From the DOJ list of resources

"Although it is within reason to believe that some individuals did drop inflammables or explosives on the riot area, there is very little to support" Richard S. Warner

The Tulsa Race Massacre wasn’t a chaotic wildfire but a calculated storm, deliberately unleashed to destroy a thriving Black community. The Justice Department’s acknowledgment finally names it—a “military-style attack”—shedding light on the orchestrated violence that tore through history.

The 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre is well-documented through eyewitness accounts, photos, and reports like the 2001 Tulsa Race Riot Commission. Historians, including Tim Madigan in The Burning, detail the systematic, coordinated attack—a deliberate act, not the work of a random, uncontrolled mob.

Anybody having flashbacks. This is our future. MAgA GOP may start burning down cites & coming to a town near us. Don't worry. No biggie. It will be forgotten the next day. May be Pearl City, Boca Raton will be the first to set an example for USA voters to fall in line.
