at some point, the most difficult thing you can do as a music artist is to avoid doing anything difficult in a song while still making it bang

I play drums and keyboard; my old jazz percussion teacher with whom I studied in high school used to constantly tell me, “less is more.” In many respects and nearly 30 years later, I’ve espoused such sage advice. I play my drums far more delicately and simply, thus, more elegantly, with less stress.

As a musician and musician observer, I find the biggest obstacle for many writers is fear of looking non-musical. Big hit songs have things like "yeah, oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah", which "serious musicians" won't lower themselves to. I don't know a single person who could write Rockefeller Skank.

Depends on what you consider a banger. Generational musical talents will take difficult struggles and turn it into resonant art that will shift whole genres. But if you have a good industry connections, you can make a banger without it
