In many places - the most populated - we’ve been sick of this for over a decade at least, more if you actually consider US history. It’s not new that US citizens are over the two party system. That’s not a new thing.

It's fine for the Parties to nominate whoever they want, but we need to make it easier for Independents to get on the ballot. Perhaps the Parties once represented widespread public opinion, but now they seem to be serving well-funded interests rather addressing the mundane needs of most people.

I’ve been saying this for years. Voters need to be unchained from party politics. Representatives must be free to act on behalf of their constituents without the constraints of party demands.

Abolish party politics the way George Washington would have preferred. He predicted this entire debacle in his Farewell Address.

Good idea. Would be simpler, cleaner to expand the House. bsky.app/profile/stev...

The effects of gerrymandering would be essentially eliminated by reducing representation back to the way it was at our founding. Each lawmaker now represents roughly 770,000 residents, compared to just 33,000 when at our founding. Just doubling the House from 435 to 870 would make a difference.

Ranked-choice voting is a more realistic fix IMO. It solves the vote splitting problem so you can vote Nader without electing Bush, and we can adopt it piecemeal without a big constitutional overhaul (which is almost certainly impossible.). Maine already has it.

It's a great idea, but I hope voters understand that the government needs a complete overhaul from the ground up. A new Constitution and everything Its not just about voting for a hypothetical better third party, its about parliamentary proportional representation instead of 'first past the post'

V confirms this claim checks out. Multiple sources, including NPR, confirm a new poll by Fix Our House and New America found that half of respondents support proportional representation. Real-time fact-checks on your feed: https://veratify.ai Errors or comments: info@veratify.ai
