In an admittedly cursory search, literally the only references I can find to the Founders calling America "god's noble experiment" are from... Chuck Schumer speeches. Why is the Senate Democratic Leader carrying water for a right wing Christian lie? And apparently fabricating quotes to do it?

Chuck Schumer@schumer.senate.gov

The founding fathers called America God’s noble experiment. I believe in all three words to this day: we are one nation under God, we have clung to noble ideas for longer than any other nation, and we are an experiment always changing, trying to make ourselves better.

The old guard Democrats are deathly scared of being called communist or anti-religious by Republicans. They’ve been like this since I’ve been old enough to vote.

The only appearance on Wikipedia of those words in that sequence is quoting Schumer.

Google returns TWO instances of the phrase when Schumer references are subtracted. Both are Old Testament references.

Which makes sense. Schumer is not Christian.

The reference in WP doesn't mention that or even Schumer at all, but it's here (from Sotomayor's hearing) where he simply says 'people felt at the founding of America that we were ‘‘God’s noble experiment.’’' It's like he's playing a game of Telephone in his own head. www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/...
