This aired just the once in 1998 on the live SNL show for which McKay wrote it. It was effectively banned as it never aired again. I wonder why. MEDIA-OPOLY

Aired only two years after the Telecom Act of 1996 - which allowed all this shit - was passed by Congress and signed by Clinton. Three decades later, state AGs settled their suit against the Paramount-WB merger in exchange for financial table scraps and promises not to do bad things. SSDD

Boeing North American Rockwell, manufacturer of B-1 bomber, considered it a success if they could get at least one component manufactured in every state and every congressional district.

I had the same feeling when I watched My Dinner With Andre, I couldn’t believe we were still talking about the same things they had been talking about so many years prior and nothing had changed.

Mediaopoly: noun 1. A term used to describe when the media is owned and controlled by a few large corporations. 2. A conspiracy theory, in which, the media conglomerates can limit what you see on TV, hear on the radio and read in newspapers, magazines and books. 1/3

3. A SNL skit wrote by Robert Smigel. The skit is a parody to "School Room Rock." This "Conspiracy Theory Rock" is about the media-opoly going on in the US. The skit features GE, Westinghouse, Time warner, Fox, and Disney as the media gaints. 2/3

I am just amazed. Never knew this existed and it is so much more relevant! Love the PCBs -- little story-- when heating oil prices spiked (1999) salvagers started selling oil out of old transformers which were loaded with PCBs.
