"After all, who loves America more than those who have sacrificed so much to make it free?" brb dying my hair red white & blue and running through the streets with sparklers this speech is the good shit. this is a speech for all of us who love the best parts of our fucked up nation

Mamdani: "As we mark 250 years ... we see the wealthiest country -- one where children go to sleep hungry while the world's first trillionaire hungers for more ... we see masked agents terrorizing our streets, eating food cooked by undocumented neighbors before spiriting them away in unmarked vans"

we hold our auction over the 4th of July because patriotism is complicated in this country (as it always has been) but I truly, in my heart, do love the best parts of it. I love how vast and chaotic we are, how we have every biome, every culture, every climate, every dream. we are a daily discovery

this administration wants to sand all the beauty off our nation, but all they have done is make it clear that our diversity was the load bearing wall and their mediocrity has always been the termites chewing at the foundation. they're small. and we have something they never will: wonder & joy.

Thats why I reject the other side's notion that because we criticize, we hate this country. No, I love this country which is I why I want to see it do better, to fix its problems, and be there for those in need. To become the best version of itself.
