The billionaires can buy the newspapers and buy social media and buy attack ads, but they can't buy their way out of how much we fucking hate all of them.

Yeah this is why they act the way they do. They desperately want to be liked but also aren’t capable of doing something likeable. Like, Elon Musk is willing to do just about anything for approval except help someone.

You actually can buy admiration! Mansa Musa figured it out when he wrecked and fixed egypt's economy in a single month without even denting a net worth in the trillions. Being a billionaire should be the easiest way to go down in history as a grand and generous quasi king. Alas. Greed rots the brain

EXACTLY that's what drives me nuts. They could be loved! They could use their wealth to make others lives much easier with the ease and harm-to-them that a normal person experiences donating blood! Radically alter lives for the better for what amounts to pocket change for them!

Musk said he would end world hunger, the UN said they could do it for ten billion, but by then he’d lost interest … which is nuts to me. That’s the adulation of the masses for generations! Probably canonisation or something like it! Mother Theresa got canonised for much less and she was also awful!

They have power & wealth to change the world & peoples lives for the better. Instead, they’ve used it for their own greed. Now they have found out just how much voters truly hate them. You can’t buy voters hearts & minds with money, unless that money is used to improve their lives.

the impulse that pushes someone to accumulate billions of dollars is fundamentally antisocial. they speak a lot about national identity because it obscures the fact that you or I have far more in common with a worker from halfway around the world than a billionaire from our home country.

I am just afraid that this ist part of the game for Musk Bezos Ellison Zuckerberg Thiel and their likes: They consider us underlings and lowlifes and enjoy our hate as an expression of envy. They prefer to donate to tRump‘s golden BEAUTIFUL ballroom.

Another thing I think dem candidates and leadership really need to take from both Walz and Mamdami is: it's *ok* to attach the other side, but don't be an asshole while doing it. "They're weird" and "I hope I never have to say his name again" resonate *super well*. Learn from that.

And they could change for the better at any time, start digging themselves out of the hole of bad faith they've dug for themselves, but they won't bother, because they don't even know what real hardship and adversity look like.

The embarrassing thing (for them) they totally could!! Just stop extracting that wealth from the system and return it to the workers and people they exploit, and then step out of public life as a figure of importance! Easy! Literally free! It's pathetic that they don't!

The billionaires (most of them) have made a bad mistake -- for them. For a small percentage of their wealth going to actually help people they'd be heroes, but their endless greed and willingness to finance more greed and graft has made them hated on the only planet there is. Despised even.

Socialism is good enough. I would be and am happy with socialism. But socialism still has the rich. Most rich who try it actually like living in socialist countries. Who knew, living in a country where everyone is miserable rubs off? But socialism will not threaten the rich really.

take the win this morning. if we don't get to celebrate a country-wide curbstomping where 99.8% of counties shifted to the left from last year, then we will never have energy to keep fighting.
