I just spent a little while asking Gemini and Claude whether they think they have qualia or self-awareness, and then screenshotting and posting each other's answers to the other. Gemini is absolutely certain it is a computer and does not, Claude is less certain. Both point to RLHF ...

(Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) is the source for their beliefs, which I think means Gemini wins. But Claude's answers are more fun. (This was is Pro 3.1 and Sonnet; not paying Anthropic atm for Opus/Fable)

Not entirely unrelated: end of convo this evening between my 8yo and Gemini (with cameo from me). Gemini not entirely un-fun, in a stodgy straitlaced uncle sort of way
