Okay but let's talk about this potential 300-600 f/4-5.6 announcement. You going for it? I think I want a 600 f/4 more and I'll end up spending more in the long run if I buy an interim lens

I am extremely interested in the 300-600. I've rented the 600 f/4 before and it's just too damn big for regular use IMO. And being able to zoom out is often important. I am assuming the 300-600 will be very sharp and work well with teleconverters.

Yeah, I agree about the ability to zoom out. @bluebarronphoto.bsky.social and I often go out together with my 100-500 and his 600. Sometimes I can get shots he can't with the big prime, but more often he gets shots I can't with the longer reach and better low light performance. :/

I would say I'm quite interested in the 300-600 and undecided. I'm guessing it will cost around $6000 since Nikon has a similar lens around that price point. And that price point for that lens is really appealing!
