Next Fest (and really, Steam festivals + wishlists in general) as every game dev's marketing north star has been in decline for a while, imo. slop makes it much worse but we've been building to this because there's no getting away from Steam.

Next Fest was already a bit of a pointless exercise for 90% of devs. Now the AI slop has made it entirely pointless for 99% of devs I don’t really know what Valve can do about this, but I think it’s fair to say that we pay them well enough, that it would be nice if they’d bloody do *something*

I have no answers but if we care about a viable path forward for small/idiosyncratic/manmade games we have to stop wondering what daddy Valve is going to "do" about it

valve and steam exist at the expense of developers, and i don’t know where this idea is coming from that they will improve anything about how their platform works for us when i can’t even crop/resize a page asset or add a non-1920x1080 screenshot in steamworks
