why do linux devs make it so hard to disable middle-click pasting? I use middle-click for scrolling, so it's a huge pain when apps like Discord or Signal paste the last thing I highlighted every time I scroll. I don't get why it's this hard to disable a feature this small.

historical fuckery with X11, fallbacks to application-specific behavior (e.g., vscode's editor.scrollOnMiddleClick). no idea on wayland... but it still sucks

Mostly affecting electron apps, They're running in native wayland (i.e. not using xwayland), but they still refuse to play nicely ;w; I'm assuming that when they realise I've patched out the primary clipboard, they're just running their own stupid local one I hate it here

if anyone knows how to fix this hellscape, please do tell me I'm using COSMIC DE, I even tried recompiling the compositor with the primary clipboard stuff commented out but it's still doing it on a per-app basis

just gonna do the jank workaround of having wl-paste watch the clipboard and clear it every time
