I recently read a report about a murder committed by an undocumented immigrant. Some right-leaning coverage used the incident to suggest that undocumented immigrants as a group are disproportionately dangerous criminals. This claim could not be further from the truth. (1/3)

Extensive state-level data and peer-reviewed national studies consistently show that undocumented immigrants have homicide offending rates 30% to 50% lower than native-born U.S. citizens. Native-born Americans are more than twice as likely to be arrested for violent crimes overall. (2/3)
