One you might find surprising. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt & members of her team have been extremely helpful in responding to questions I raise. Regardless of public facing commentary, privately they are willing to engage and address questions. And I have appreciated that. Thank you

Brunch has taken on the connotation of treating the fascist regime as an annoyance, rather than both a symptom and rapid accelerant of fundamental national decline. Like "ugh, I can't wait until we vote these jokers out and get back to brunch." There was a specific tweet, can't seem to find it.

I do not want to have to think about politics all the time. I would much prefer to have good competent people running the government so I could enjoy a weekend meal with friends without worrying what the government is doing. Why is this bad?

I'd certainly like that to be the case myself. Unfortunately competence is not the only factor--those in power generally have different interests than those they claim to represent. Democracy requires active participation that is often antagonistic.

I think the prospect of this kind of participation is exhausting to us because we have lost community. People used to work more hours and also participate in politics more through various groups. They probably experienced burnout too, but were less vulnerable to it.
