Yea, my issue isn't so much the move to SourceHut as it is the way in which it was done. We have an anonymous-looking account that doesn't seem at all associated with the project nuking the entire repository contents and replacing it with a manifesto of sorts. Why not just archive and leave it?

I doubt it. As it did not remove any of the forks. The full history is easily discoverable by a few clicks today. Instead, this seems like a political protest against AI and everything AI stands for.
