I don’t know if this is sarcasm, but I do understand why private likes are a good thing to some people when bad actors tend to weaponise it.

I view it as a networking thing, simulating real life a little bit. Like if I’m chatting with someone at a meetup/conference, I can also see the people standing there listening in on the conversation, see them nodding along. It lets people be involved without necessarily having something to say.
