This week I'm in A Coruña, Galicia, attending the @webengineshackfest.org 👩‍💻 where we are discussing the future of web engines and standards. Given the potential impact on future web development, I thought it would be helpful to share some of my personal notes from the event. ✍️👇

⏱️ Day 1 👉 Valerie Young gave a talk about Web Platform Tests (WPT). These are test suites for Web platform specifications written in HTML but initially lacked complete accessibility support. 👉 She found a way to solve this by writing new tests in Python. Example github.com/web-platform...

👉 HTML-in-Canvas is a bridge implementation between HTML/CSS and pixel manipulation (Canvas/WebGL). 👉 Available in Chrome behind the `canvas-draw-element` flag. 👉 We discussed the challenges: cross-origin data leakage, video support, user state privacy, performance 👀 Demos: html-in-canvas.dev/demos/

⏱️ Day 3 👉 We discussed how can browsers can help to improve web accessibility 🤔 Ideas: user preferences for autoplay and contrast, keyboard nav for tooltips... 🤔 @danielroe.dev suggested browsers to share information with framework developer tools to help identify accessibility vulnerabilities ➕
