The first talk of the day at #ffconf highlighted the still-abysmal gender and ethnicity disparity in the tech industry. As long as data is compiled and processed by a non-diverse group, we can't train models and build products that could ever be anything but biased.

There's still things that catch me by surprise now, even though they probably shouldn't. A cool new retro coding magazine where the entire contributor list is bearded white dudes. More men named Chris than women in an engineering team. An entirely white speaker panel.
