Leaving the ECHR won't stop the small boats. We need a proper agreement with the EU—bringing access to biometric data, a returns agreement and a fair system that protects vulnerable people. @MaxWilkinson.bsky.social

..but it will remove our rights & turn us into a Trumpian hellhole..which is the real reason Farage & his billionaire buddies want us to leave it bsky.app/profile/d-mo...

Immigration is the trojan horse Farage uses to get people to vote against their own best interests. His real agenda for leaving the ECHR ⬇️ bsky.app/profile/d-mo...

Let's be honest, leaving the ECHR isn't about stopping boats, it's about removing rights from British citizens, making people easier to exploit for corporate profits.

Zero chance EU even wants to talk about this. It is up to UK to control the UK border and to manage refugees. People leaving or passing through EU isn't an EU problem.

If you see how the negotiations for the youth mobility scheme were handled by the UK, I don't think there is any appetite within the EU to start talks about migration - what migration? There is not much the UK can offer (red lines), so I think the road for a migration agreement is a dead end road.

Yes, weeks or months to reach a new migration agreement with the EU. The Lib Dem gradualist & pragmatic approach is the best way to rejoin asap: to forge new agreements, rebuild trust with the EU, mitigate slightly the worst Brexit damage, & shape public opinion for fully rejoining in 10-20 years.
