Very happy that we were able to finally share a closer look at Smolder in the latest @digitalfoundry.bsky.social video! It is a fully integrated volumetric renderer, and it enables volumetric shadows for every light in the entire game. You'll see a lot of Smolder effects in @007game.ioi.dk

You mention in the video that perfomance mode on base consoles is 1080P upscalled to 4K via FSR 3.1. Has anything changed in the final release build? Because it seems to be way lower that 1080P 😣😢

Hey! No, it's the same but there is a Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) window from 1080p-720p for the internal res when running in perf mode on base consoles. When the scenes get busy we rather drop the internal resolution than drop frames.

We set it up very conservatively to make sure the game runs as smooth as possible, we could probably squeeze a bit more resolution out of it but in return we risk dropping a couple of frames when there's a lot of VFX etc.

Ah ok! 👍 So far performance has been rock solid on XSX with the only downside being the res in some scenarios & super low res textures on many assets (😞). Finally decided to fire it on on PC (with a sorta equivalent 6700XT) & it's definitely better (everything at Ultra besides volumetric @ med)
