πŸŒŠπŸŒ‘οΈπŸ“ˆ The shifting baseline syndrome is real. Otherwise people would care more about these North Atlantic Sea Surface Temperatures Anomalies!

Can confirm. Last year, I was glued to ClimateReanalyzer's daily SST chart. This year, maybe 5 times. Shifting baseline indeed. But I'm merely a layperson. There are scientists who keep an eye on it and research the physical stuff. Nice blogpost on hurricane season 2024 by Michael Mann for example.

😁 Broken record? The Hurricane season was especially diverging from forecasts, 19 vs 29 IIRC. That's what he's writing about. Maybe, a warming acceleration – or acceleration of the acceleration – would not directly explain a weaker-than-forecast hurricane season and his omission can be forgiven?

michaelmann.netReflections on the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane SeasonNow that the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season seems to be coming to a close, it is worth reflecting on what transpired and what we might learn from it.

Well I for one am not complacent, every day...what is the mean surface air temperature anomaly?! But as of now from @climatecasino, he's looking at the temperature curve as a fortune-teller looking at tea leaves, especially amongst many doomers there is concern that growth is exponential.
