A month ago I had to take a train in Italy at 10pm, the train was marked as accessible, it had level boarding, and there were elevators to get to the platform. Problem: the elevators had been turned off at 9:30pm. I reported it, and they are fixing it by... marking late trains as not accessible 🤬

So.. I'll bite. Why do you think the elevators are turned off ? And what response would you have liked ? Cause generally speaking , I think they have _some_ reason why the elevators can't be operated after that time... And assuming that, marking the train as not accessible sounds like the good move?

Such reason has never been stated publicly, and it has never been stated publicly why there is no other solution to what that reason would be.

no, and they don't have to. It's probably something that feels stupid even (like, it requires somebody to man the alarm phone handling inside the elevators.. and if they have nobody the elevators are closed). You can only guess. I was just thinking about it 'better to mark it not accessible compared

to people ending up there and getting into trouble. You found out a real mistake in the labeling, so the labeling got fixed. I think if it was easy to operate the elevators longer they would have.

You give them too much credit. These large organizations often do things “just because they’ve always done it like this”, even when there is no rational reason. Operating an elevator in a public place 24/7 is clearly not a problem, because all other countries can do it at their own train stations

Also I have a picture of the elevator - the maintenance sticker is from Italy wide operating elevator company that has 24/7 operation, maintenance, and emergency response call center as a key selling point on their website
