I intended to have my big mods be on 26.1 and then 27.1 as the next version, going for a 'major version' yearly cycle, but today's snapshot adding a friends list and p2p is making me second guess that decision. Has anyone else been thinking about this? Maybe 26.2 should be an exception? #mcdev

First 26.2 will be the exception, then 26.3, then 26.4 And soon, we'll be back to quarterly updates. I'll stick to the "first release of a year" LTS goal. Now that the tech for Peer to Peer is there, people will surely backport it with mods.

Yeah that's the risk you're not wrong. Once 26.2 drops I'll see how much work the ports will be and go from there. I'm lucky that the rendering changes don't affect my mods much

This sort of decision is such an exhausting part of mod development. In the end you're just gambling whether people prefer your mod or the new version, and you're gambling your time and energy 😅 Suffice to say I have long since given up updating my mods, but they're all open source if anyone wants.

One thing I Will say for updating your mods - if you're going to bother, a fun little stunt is to see which ones are going to be the least work to port andput them up ASAP for that beautiful little window of time where people looking for mods for the new update only have a few hundred to choose from
